They have eliminated the CPT consult codes from January 1 of this year. Billing for consultation is still possible but you need to put in different codes now. There is also a different modifier in place for inpatient hospitalizations. Also, when Medicare is treated as a secondary payer too, there are changes proposed. Meaning, if there are private insurers in the picture, you have to check carefully whether Medicare is liable to pay you now.
